Be a Greek Week Volunteer

Monday, April 9th

BANNER COMPETITION 12PM | CISTERN GATES

The artistic program is a major element of each ceremony. Banners need to be hung on The Cistern Fence by Monday, April 9th, at 9:00 am.

  • It is recommended that banners incorporate:  
    • Organization
    • College of Charleston OR Charleston, SC
    • Overall theme (Greek Olympics)
    • An original message promoting Greek Unity

Points: (Gold) Winner Receives 100 Pts

OPENING CEREMONY AND ICE CREAM SOCIAL 6PM-8PM | STERN GARDENS

50 additional points given to the organization with best uniformed, Greek attire*

The opening ceremonies represent the official commencement of Greek Week. We invite all organizations to come out to Stern Gardens wearing your Greek Letters and participate in the Parade of Greeks. No togas. Each Chapter President is asked to gather their organization in the designated area. Greek Olympic teams will also be announced. (Remarks by Council Presidents)

Points: Determined by the highest % of group attendance
1st (Gold)- 500 pts. 2nd (Silver)- 250 points 3rd (Bronze)- 100 points

Tuesday, April 10th

“Zero to Hero” PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FAIR 10AM-3PM | STERN 201, 206, 409, BALLROOM

Every Olympian needs a stellar resume as well as and a headshot for the future. Come out to have your resume refreshed and network with other Greek professionals as the Career Center reviews your resume and help you go from “Zero to Hero” status!

Points: Points determined by the highest % of team attendance 1st (Gold)- 500 points 2nd (Silver)- 250 points 3rd (Bronze)- 100 points

Wednesday, April 11th

“Get Moving” SALSA NIGHT WITH YOGA COOL DOWN 8:15PM |SILCOX GYM J201

Get moving before the Olympic Games! Join the members of the Greek Community for a heart pumping salsa session with Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Incorporated member, Omar Valencia, and cool down Restorative Yoga session with Lily Newman of Sigma Delta Tau. Refreshments will be served.

Points: 5 Points for each member in attendance

Thursday, April 12th

“Meet me at the Olympic Village” LEMONADE ON THE PORCH 12PM-3PM | HIGDON CENTER | 69 COMING STREET

Take a moment to cool down and prepare for the Olympic Games. Visit the porch of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the Higdon Center, enjoy fresh lemonade, desserts, and study in between your classes. Earn points by posting pictures on Instagram at this event with someone from another organization, council or OFSL staff. Make sure to mention @cofc_greekweek_2018 and hashtag #CofCGreekUnity to get your points. Be sure to tag or list all organizations included in the photo.

Points: 10 points for one picture with a member in your organization. 15 points for one picture with a member from a different council.

OLYMPIC GAMES 4:30PM | Stern Gardens

Cheer on your favorite Olympian as they compete in old school field day race games. Each organization has submitted the names of their Olympians. Click here to register your Olympian!

  • GAME 1: Sack race
  • GAME 2: Egg on the spoon
  • GAME 3: Three-legged race
  • GAME 4: Jump rope/Hula Hoop

Each Olympian in the winning team will bring back 1,000 points to their organization. Additional points determined by the highest % of team attendance

1st (Gold)- 500 points 2nd (Silver)- 250 points 3rd (Bronze)- 100 points

Friday, April 13th

OLYMPIANS GIVE BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITIES

For Greek Week 2018 we will be donating items to One80 place. You are asked to collect items for “Move In Kits.” Move-In Kits make the transition from the street/shelter to a new home much easier. We want you to help make their house a HOME. Collection times (1pm-4pm at 97 Wentworth Annex (the old OFSL)) Contact: Deronda 953.1041 for information

  • Points:
    • Cleaning Kit: 500 for each kit
    • Linen Kit: 450 for each kit
    • Kitchen Kit: 650 points

(1,000 additional points given to team that collaborates across councils for this project. Example: Omega Psi Fraternity partnering with Chi Omega Sorority and creates 3 Cleaning kits equals- 2500 points per organization)

THE CLOSING CEREMONY Riverdogs game, Joseph P. Riley Stadium 7:05pm

Celebrate a successful GREEK WEEK 2018 with your fellow Greek Community at the Riverdogs game! There will be more than enough food and drinks for all. Greek Week winners will be announced at the game. You don’t want to miss this event. Free Admission for the first 100 people who register. Please register no later than March 30, 2018 at noon. We will wear our GREEK WEEK 2018 shirts.
